Madness

Stepped out of the house to go to lunch with my good friend pating. I was in a sundress; I had a purse hung around my wrist instead of my usual gigantic handbag. I felt very put together. Church bells were tolling. For once they didn’t irritate me. A family was walking up the street, complete w/ big bro pushing the stroller and dad holding the baby, mom holding li’l sis’s hand. Women with abanicos wearing those huge scapulars alighted from a jeepney. For a split second I felt like I had stepped back into the 1950s. Everything looked brighter, cleaner, more cheerful.
Or maybe I’ve just been watching too much Mad Men.
